August Community Update
It was exciting to see Anytype’s interface begin to reflect the global nature of our community, and we’re thankful to all contributors who helped to translate the app.
🥜 August in a Nutshell
In August we shipped the first (14!) localized versions of the Anytype desktop interface, released a series of upgrades to templates workflows on desktop and mobile, announced our recent funding round, and held our first demo call dedicated to student workflows.
It was exciting to see Anytype’s interface begin to reflect the global nature of our community, and we’re thankful to all contributors who helped to translate the app.
🦫 What we're working on:
Product & Engineering:
The team is polishing existing workflows (templates and task management), meanwhile pushing hard to bring the first iteration of multi-spaces to your Anytype. Having just concluded our season planning, we’ve got our hands full till the end of the year with projects including a use case gallery, multiplayer mode, and web clipper.
OpenAny:
We continue to welcome translations of new languages for our desktop application, and will shortly be kicking off the localization of our mobile apps. We are also working on interface support of RTL languages, before inviting native speakers to help with translations.
Afterwards, we will offer localization options for dates, relations, and types.
🥁 What's coming next:
Release 0.35.0 (Desktop) / 0.25.0 (Mobile)
The main focus of our September release will be further refinements to the way that default templates are used, applied, and displayed. Separately, we’ll be making some design polishes for a more aesthetic login and logout flow.
Simplified Self-hosting
In July we released the first MVP of self-hosting, and in August our community helped us by creating a docker-compose file to simplify the process (thank you, .
In two releases from now, we plan to release an in-product flow to greatly simplify friction for self-hosting your data by selecting and connecting your backup node from the Anytype interface.
Use Case Sharing MVP
Given that many of our community members have created beautiful and useful workflows within Anytype, we look forward to allowing export of your templates and use cases to share with other community members via import. It will be the first iteration of the eventual use case gallery, which we intend to introduce in the product later this year.
Multi-spaces for Personal Use
As the next milestone towards collaboration, we intend to introduce the ability to create multiple spaces from a single profile. We are just around the corner from releasing a nightly build to start testing functionality, so if you’re part of our nightly testers please stay tuned!
September Town Hall
On 14 September, 18:00 CEST we will host our next community town hall, in which we’ll shed some light on the roadmap from now until the end of the year, and possibly sneak-preview a few projects in-the-making. Reserve your spot here or, if you can’t make it, we’ll post a link to the recording afterward.
